The National Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) conducted a joint monitoring visit to the National Centre for Mental Health Hospital, with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Health, the National Council for Family Affairs, and the Senate, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the participatory approach with all relevant stakeholders.
During the visit, the delegation toured the hospital’s various departments, reviewed the services provided to beneficiaries, and examined the key challenges facing the hospital, with the aim of ensuring that each relevant institution fulfills its responsibilities in addressing these challenges.
The National Centre places significant importance on mental health within the framework of its mandate to monitor the right to health. This visit builds on a series of previous monitoring visits that resulted in a number of recommendations submitted to the relevant authorities. The Centre has since received responses from the Ministry of Health outlining the recommendations that have been implemented, as well as those that remain under implementation.
The Centre reaffirmed its commitment to the continuous and systematic follow-up of the implementation of its recommendations through a practical and structured approach, in close cooperation with the relevant stakeholders.
