The Board of Trustees of the National Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) held its monthly meeting at the headquarters of the Aqaba Chamber of Commerce, chaired by Board Chairperson Samar Al-Haj Hassan and attended by Board members and the Commissioner General. The meeting was held as part of the Centre’s ongoing efforts to monitor the human rights situation across the Kingdom’s governorates, strengthen its field engagement, and enhance institutional performance.
The meeting agenda included a review of priority human rights issues identified by the Centre. During its discussions, the Board underscored the importance of concerted national efforts to strengthen the human rights framework and advance policies and legislation in line with international human rights standards and the Kingdom’s constitutional obligations.
On the administrative front, the Board discussed a number of internal reports and implementation plans aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the working environment and developing the Centre’s human and financial resources, thereby ensuring the continued delivery of its human rights and monitoring services in accordance with the highest standards of quality and professionalism.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Board expressed its thanks and appreciation to Mr. Nael Al-Kabariti, President of the Aqaba Chamber of Commerce and member of the Board of Trustees, for hosting the meeting and providing the necessary facilities to ensure its success. The Board affirmed that holding the meeting in Aqaba reflects the Centre’s approach to strengthening field engagement across the Kingdom and gaining first-hand insight into the human rights and development needs and challenges facing the governorates.
