The National Centre for Human Rights received a delegation from the Jordan Academy of Arabic at its headquarters today to explore avenues of joint cooperation in the protection of the Arabic language and the enhancement of the implementation of the Law on the Protection of the Arabic Language. The delegation was headed by the Academy’s President, Professor Dr. Mohammad Adnan Al-Bakhit, and was received by the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Ms. Samar Haj Hassan, along with representatives of the Board of Trustees and the General Secretariat.
The meeting addressed prospects for cooperation between the two sides with regard to safeguarding the Arabic language as a core component of the right to culture. Discussions also focused on mechanisms to support the implementation of the Law on the Protection of the Arabic Language and to strengthen compliance among relevant entities. It was agreed to highlight these issues in the Centre’s annual report and to formulate practical recommendations that would enable concerned bodies to effectively implement the law, thereby contributing to the preservation of cultural identity and the consolidation of cultural rights within the broader human rights framework.
