The Commissioner General for Human Rights Participates in an International OIC Seminar on the Palestinian Cause

The Commissioner General for Human Rights, Mr. Jamal Al-Shamayleh, participated in the international seminar organized by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Wednesday morning, 17 December 2025, on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the OIC Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC). The seminar was held at the OIC General Secretariat headquarters in Jeddah under the title: “The Palestinian Cause: Challenges and Prospects.”
During the seminar, a statement was delivered on behalf of the National Centre for Human Rights (NCHR), in which the Commissioner General affirmed the Centre’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause and defending the human and legal rights of the Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Strip, in light of the ongoing aggression and grave violations, as well as the continued attacks on refugee camps in the West Bank.
Al-Shamayleh stressed the responsibility of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and its Member States to play an effective role in mobilizing international efforts and exerting pressure to ensure the implementation of international legitimacy resolutions, foremost among them the two-State solution, in a manner that guarantees an end to the occupation and enables the Palestinian people to attain their legitimate rights.
He further emphasized that the position of the National Centre for Human Rights stems from its firmly rooted humanitarian and national principles toward the Palestinian cause, noting that His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, may God protect him, sponsors and supports all humanitarian and political initiatives related to the Palestinian cause and the suffering of refugees at all international forums.
On the sidelines of the seminar, the Commissioner General held an official bilateral meeting with the Chairman of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission, Dr. Hadi Al-Yami. The meeting addressed a number of issues of mutual interest in the field of human rights, as well as ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the National Centre for Human Rights and the Commission, including the possibility of signing a future Memorandum of Understanding to facilitate the exchange of expertise and the implementation of joint programs and initiatives serving the objectives of both institutions.
