The National Centre for Human Rights holds a solidarity vigil in tribute to the martyrs of the Karak terrorist attack.

Amman – 25 October 2026
Members of the Board of Trustees and staff of the National Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) held a solidarity gathering at the Centre’s premises on Sunday, 25 October 2026, to express their strong condemnation of the terrorist attack in Karak Governorate and their solidarity with the martyrs, their families and the people of Karak.
Chairperson of the NCHR Board of Trustees, Samar Al-Haj Hassan, stated:
“We stand united today with the martyrs’ families and the people of Karak. We condemn in the strongest terms this terrorist act, which violated the right to life, the foremost and most fundamental of all rights. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the martyrs and pray for the swift recovery of those injured. We reaffirm that Jordan, through the unity of its people and the strength of its institutions, will remain resilient against all attempts to undermine its security and stability.”
For his part, Commissioner-General for Human Rights, Jamal Al-Shamayleh, stated:
“Terrorism is a crime against humanity as a whole and a grave violation of human rights, foremost among them the right to life and personal security. As a national human rights institution, we reaffirm that protecting society from terrorism and confronting it must take place within the framework of the rule of law and respect for rights and freedoms.”
Members of the Board of Trustees emphasised that terrorism, in all its forms and under any justification, is fundamentally incompatible with human values and the principles of human rights. They stressed that confronting terrorism requires strengthening national unity and reinforcing the values of coexistence, solidarity and mutual respect among Jordanians.
They reaffirmed their solidarity with the Jordanian state under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, and their unequivocal rejection of any attempt to threaten the country’s security, stability or national unity.
The gathering reaffirmed the NCHR’s commitment to defending the right to life and human dignity, upholding the rule of law and respect for rights and freedoms, and promoting solidarity and national unity in the face of violence and terrorism.
