Mr. Khaldoun Al-Nsour, Attorney-at-Law, Member of the Board of Trustees and Deputy Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, participated on behalf of the National Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) in the High-Level International Forum commemorating the 40th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration on the Right to Development. The forum was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China and the State Council Information Office as part of the 2026 Global Human Rights Governance Forum in Beijing, under the theme: “Shared Development, Shared Human Rights: The 40th Anniversary of the Adoption of the Declaration on the Right to Development and a New Vision for Global Human Rights Governance.”

During the forum, Mr. Al-Nsour addressed participants by highlighting the Centre’s role in promoting and monitoring the right to sustainable development. He underscored the collaborative partnership between the Centre and the relevant ministries and institutions, as well as the national efforts undertaken to monitor and implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He also noted that the National Centre for Human Rights chairs the national group responsible for monitoring SDG 16, which focuses on peace, justice, and strong institutions.

Mr. Al-Nsour further highlighted the field visits conducted by the Centre to assess progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. He also noted that the Centre’s Annual Report on the State of Human Rights includes a dedicated section on the right to sustainable development and the right to an adequate standard of living.

One of the forum’s key outcomes was the establishment of a platform bringing together members of the international community to exchange views on the current situation, challenges, and progress achieved in the field of international human rights cooperation.
