Within the framework of its legal mandate and its efforts to promote and protect the right to education, the National Center for Human Rights conducted field monitoring visits to a number of inclusive public schools in the governorates of the Capital and Madaba. This comes as part of its periodic visits program aimed at following up on the status of the realization of the right to education and promoting inclusive education approaches in the Kingdom.
The visits aimed to assess the extent to which schools comply with the requirements of inclusive education in accordance with national legislation and relevant international standards, and to verify the alignment of the educational environment—both physical and pedagogical—with the requirements of universal accessibility and the provision of reasonable accommodations. This is in addition to monitoring the status of services provided to students with disabilities, and evaluating their adequacy and effectiveness.
These visits also come within the context of the Center’s follow-up on its commitments undertaken as part of the Global Disability Summit. The Center has prepared monitoring reports, documented its observations and recommendations, and formally communicated them to the relevant authorities. It has also received responses indicating the Ministry’s readiness to implement their content and to begin taking the necessary steps in this regard.
