The Royal Police Academy of the Public Security Directorate hosted Ms. Samar Al-Haj Hassan, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the National Centre for Human Rights, who delivered a specialized awareness lecture entitled “Human Rights in Modern Societies” as part of the Exceptional Senior Leadership Course organized by the Academy.
The lecture was attended by Colonel Dr. Ahmad Al-Khaldi, Dean of the Graduate Studies College at the Academy, a number of senior officers, and members of the Libyan Public Security.
During her lecture, Ms. Al-Haj Hassan emphasized the depth of the strategic partnership between the National Centre for Human Rights and the Public Security Directorate. She commended the significant progress achieved by Jordan’s security institutions in aligning law enforcement practices with international human rights standards and the principles of the Jordanian Constitution.
The lecture addressed several key themes, including:
- Human Rights in the Modern Era: Focusing on achieving a careful balance between maintaining public security and safeguarding the dignity and fundamental freedoms of individuals.
- The Rule of Law and Best Practices: Examining the role of law enforcement agencies, as well as the rights and responsibilities of law enforcement personnel, as essential safeguards for the protection and promotion of human rights.
- Addressing Emerging Challenges: Highlighting the role of national and security institutions in responding to contemporary challenges while ensuring a safe and secure environment that supports the Kingdom’s comprehensive modernization efforts.
The lecture concluded with an interactive discussion session during which the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees responded to participants’ questions and observations. She underscored the importance of continuing such dialogues and specialized training programmes in the field of human rights, further strengthening the ongoing cooperation between the National Centre for Human Rights and the Public Security Directorate.
