Statement of Condemnation by the National Centre for Human Rights Regarding the Terrorist Attack That Claimed the Life of a Public Security Directorate member

Nov 6, 2026

Amman – The National Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) expresses its strongest condemnation of the heinous terrorist attack committed on Thursday, 5 November 2026, which claimed the life of Corporal Jawad Al-Salaytah, a member of Jordan’s Public Security Directorate, while performing his national duty to safeguard public security and protect citizens.
The Centre emphasises that terrorism, in all its forms and manifestations, constitutes a grave violation of human rights, particularly the right to life and personal security. Such acts also represent an assault on human dignity and the values of tolerance, solidarity, peaceful coexistence and social peace that underpin Jordanian society.
The NCHR stresses that confronting terrorism and extremist ideologies requires coordinated national efforts, the promotion of a culture of human rights and the rule of law, and the reinforcement of citizenship, mutual respect and the rejection of violence and hatred.
In this regard, the Centre reaffirms its commitment to continuing awareness-raising and educational initiatives aimed at strengthening society’s resilience, particularly among young people, against extremist ideologies, incitement and hate speech, while promoting awareness of fundamental rights, freedoms and civic responsibilities.
The NCHR extends its deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the family and loved ones of Corporal Jawad Al-Salaytah and to his colleagues in the Public Security Directorate. The Centre prays that God Almighty grant him eternal peace and mercy and provide his family with patience and solace during this difficult time.
The Centre reiterates that protecting the right to life, upholding human dignity and safeguarding the security and stability of society are shared national responsibilities. Efforts to confront terrorism must remain firmly grounded in the rule of law and respect for fundamental rights and freedoms.
May God protect Jordan and its people and preserve the nation’s security, stability and Hashemite leadership from all harm.
