The workshop aimed to introduce participants to the Centre’s role and mechanisms in monitoring, documentation, and complaints handling, while empowering educational staff to integrate human rights concepts into the learning process.
The workshop was opened by the Head of the Awareness and Training Unit at the Centre, lawyer Omar Bani Mustafa, who stressed the importance of spreading human rights awareness across all regions of the Kingdom and highlighted the central role teachers play in promoting the values of citizenship and human rights among students. The training covered key themes including fundamental human rights concepts, the International Bill of Human Rights, the role of the Centre, complaints mechanisms, and integrating human rights principles into school curricula and activities.
The workshop witnessed active engagement from participants, whose interventions focused on the Centre’s role, the impact of its recommendations, and mechanisms of cooperation with ministries and institutions. Participants also emphasized the importance of intensifying such workshops for teachers due to their role in strengthening human rights awareness within schools and local communities.
The workshop concluded with several recommendations, most notably expanding awareness programs in Badia areas and strengthening partnerships with education directorates and local institutions to further embed a culture of human rights and promote the values of justice, equality, and the rule of law.
