Monitoring Visit to the Central Jordan Valley

As part of the mandate of the National Centre for Human Rights to protect, promote, and monitor human rights conditions, the Centre continued its field visits to the Central Jordan Valley region. The visits included the National Agricultural Research Center (Deir Alla and Al-Karamah stations) and a number of farms, with the aim of monitoring the services provided by the National Agricultural Research Center, as well as the role of modern agricultural technologies, irrigation systems, and renewable energy in enhancing agricultural production.
During the visit, the Centre reviewed the efforts of the research stations in advancing sustainable agriculture and water management, as well as agricultural practices in saline and arid environments. The visit also highlighted initiatives aimed at supporting the agricultural sector through the application of smart irrigation technologies and solar energy solutions.
The visit further included farms utilizing modern irrigation and energy systems, where farmers noted improvements in productivity and reductions in operational costs, despite ongoing challenges related to marketing, rising production costs, and limited access to financing.
The Centre documented its observations and recommendations, which will be communicated to the relevant authorities and followed up on, in a manner that contributes to strengthening the right to development and the right to an adequate standard of living.
