National Center for Human Rights Conducts Training for Teachers at Awjan Secondary School for Girls in Zarqa

Zarqa – The National Center for Human Rights conducted a training course targeting teachers at Awjan Secondary School for Girls in Zarqa Governorate, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote and strengthen a culture of human rights within the educational environment.
The training aimed to reinforce key human rights concepts, introduce the Center’s mandate and working mechanisms—including monitoring, documentation, and complaint handling—and enhance the capacities of educators to effectively integrate these concepts into the educational process.
The session was opened with remarks by the Head of the Awareness and Training Unit at the Center, lawyer Omar Bani Mustafa, who highlighted the pivotal role of teachers in promoting human rights culture within schools, describing them as key partners in shaping a generation that is aware of its rights and responsibilities and capable of contributing positively to society.
The training program covered several core topics, including general human rights concepts, the International Bill of Human Rights, the role of the National Center for Human Rights, and methods for integrating human rights principles into school curricula. It also included practical sessions on interview techniques and complaint handling.
The training resulted in a set of key recommendations, most notably the need to enhance media awareness of the Center and its role, as limited outreach may lead to insufficient public understanding of its mandate across the Kingdom. The recommendations also emphasized expanding outreach to all governorates to increase awareness and reinforce recognition of the Center’s oversight role across institutions and sectors, including education directorates.
Furthermore, the recommendations highlighted the importance of integrating human rights culture into educational curricula, contributing to the development of a generation that is more aware of its rights and empowered to defend them against violations, while promoting the values of justice, citizenship, and the rule of law.
This training comes within the framework of the Center’s plans to build the capacities of educational actors across the Kingdom and strengthen their role as key partners in promoting human rights awareness, ultimately contributing to positive outcomes for students and the overall education system.
