The National Centre for Human Rights conducted a field visit to the “Made with Determination” store, which markets products made by inmates of correction and rehabilitation centers affiliated with the Public Security Directorate. This visit comes within the framework of strengthening institutional partnerships and supporting rehabilitation and reform programs.
During the visit, Dr. Nahla Al-Momani, Commissioner for Protection at the Centre, affirmed that the visit falls within the context of the ongoing and joint cooperation between the Centre and the Public Security Directorate. She noted the Centre’s commitment to supporting national efforts aimed at empowering inmates and reintegrating them into society in a positive and productive manner. She also commended the efforts exerted by the Public Security Directorate, particularly the Directorate of Correction and Rehabilitation Centers, in rehabilitating inmates and economically empowering them—efforts that were crowned by the store and its team receiving the His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al-Hussein Award for Voluntary Work for the year 2025.
Al-Momani added that the Centre seeks to benefit from the products of inmates of correction and rehabilitation centers in its various activities and events, thereby contributing to supporting these productive initiatives, promoting the concept of social responsibility, and motivating inmates to develop their professional skills in line with international human rights standards.
For his part, Brigadier Falah Al-Majali, Director of the Directorate of Correction and Rehabilitation Centers, emphasized the importance of this constructive partnership with the National Centre for Human Rights. He affirmed the Public Security Directorate’s commitment to rehabilitating inmates and equipping them with practical skills that enable them economically and ensure non-recidivism. He also pointed to the Directorate’s efforts to expand rehabilitation fields in a manner that serves reform and rehabilitation programs and contributes to providing real opportunities for inmates to acquire practical skills that help them reintegrate into society after their release.
Al-Majali explained that the “Made with Determination” project represents a successful model in transforming inmates’ capacities into products of economic and social value, thereby reinforcing the concept of restorative justice and underscoring the role of national institutions in supporting pathways of community development.
During the visit, the Centre’s team reviewed the products of inmates of correction and rehabilitation centers, and both teams agreed on future frameworks for cooperation in this regard.
