The Commissioner General for Human Rights Participates in a National Conference on Human Rights Priorities in Jordan for 2026–2035

The Commissioner General for Human Rights at the National Centre for Human Rights, Mr. Jamal Al-Shamayleh, and Member of the Board of Trustees, Judge Mohammad Al-Tarawneh, participated in the national conference titled “Human Rights in Jordan 2026–2035: A National Dialogue to Develop Priorities and Recommendations,” organized by Hayat Center – Rased in cooperation with the Lutheran World Federation, under the patronage of the Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Moneim Al-Odat, and with the broad participation of representatives of civil society organizations, experts, and stakeholders concerned with human rights issues in Jordan.

Al-Shamayleh emphasized the importance of strengthening inclusive national dialogue on human rights issues, as this contributes to the development of national policies and legislation and to building a comprehensive vision that responds to current challenges and developments, in line with the principles of the Jordanian Constitution and relevant international human rights conventions.

He also highlighted the importance of complementing the roles of official institutions, civil society organizations, and the National Centre for Human Rights in promoting the protection of rights and freedoms and consolidating the principles of justice, equality, and community participation. He stressed the need to continue developing monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to ensure the effective and sustainable implementation of national human rights plans.

At the conclusion of the conference, participants recommended strengthening partnerships between official institutions, civil society organizations, and the National Centre for Human Rights in the development and implementation of national human rights plans, in addition to enhancing performance indicators and establishing periodic follow-up mechanisms that contribute to measuring the actual impact of the proposed reforms and recommendations.

The conference aims to produce practical recommendations that contribute to establishing clear national human rights priorities for the years 2026–2035, in line with Jordan’s modernization process and in support of the principles of justice, equality, and the rule of law.
